Here goes…
I don’t find it all that easy to write about me so I will keep it brief and to the point (me…?!)
I am Sarah Webb and also The Little Design Studio. I started out working with horses. Having lived and breathed horses from an early age I decided to turn my passion into a career. I broke in and rode youngsters, schooled “horses with character” I mucked out, I cared for and I worked my socks off until… I realised that as much as I loved it I just couldn’t earn a living from it so I did what any young just turned 20 year old would do. I sold pretty much all I owned and travelled to South Africa. I had never been abroad before so Johannesburg was a bit of an eye opener. I thought the journey from Jo’burg to Cape Town might take about a day… three days later I arrived in Cape Town and a three week break turned into a three month stay. I set out alone but gathered many friends on the way. A great place with some great people.
Upon my return I worked for a Touring Car Team, my role was to look after the team, driver and guests… they did sometimes end up looking after me instead though but this funded a winter break to Australia… fantastic. I then tried my hand at being a secretary which I was very bad at, instead of taking minutes I was generally found doodling. Luckily my boss at the time saw a talent and sent me off to night school to learn how to use the software to enable me to design them “some leaflets and things”. Best thing he could ever have done. I returned to college full-time after completing the course to complete a DipHE in Graphic Design and haven’t looked back since.
I love to design… it is as simple as that.
In 2006 I decided to go it alone. Freelance was what I wanted to be so I started offering my graphic design services in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire and Lincolnshire. My client base grew and I am now offering website and graphic design throughout the country.
I still receive projects from clients who I began to work with in 2006, we have built up fantastic relationships based on trust, good humour and a really good attitude to work (on both sides). These clients have meant that I have never advertised (apart from a little bit of networking once a month with the ladies at WIBN Stamford, where I generally turn up, have a laugh and forget to hand out business cards!!) It has been word of mouth which has gained me the variety of clients I have ranging from marketing agencies, schools, nurseries, equestrian services, seamstress, civil engineers, structural engineers, doctors, hotels, estate agents, photographers, hair dressers, food manufacturers, lucky really… no day is ever the same.
The Little Design Studio
The Little Design Studio with great big ideas is just that. My studio is full of pictures, quotes, images, books, magazines and oooozing inspiration. As a graphic and website designer I don’t think you ever stop learning, seeing a new project with a fresh pair of eyes.
Although I work in my studio alone I am part of a great team. I have a marketing expert who I can refer my clients to, hosting and SEO experts who really know their stuff and am safe in the knowledge that sites will be safe in their hands, printers who I can rely on, copy writers and proof readers with wordy type skills which amaze me. With this team we can go from wildly creative, quirky and fun to very serious, professional and corporate. Each new piece of work is like having a blank canvas and I love that.
Sarah.
